Healthy Holidays: 13 Calorie Mock Gravy

FALL into the Flavors of the Season with this healthy gravy option!

The egg whites take the place of high carb thickeners! The sauce is a perfect marriage of highly flavored liquids. And only 13 calories per tablespoon!

Recipe by the Medifast California Roseville Staff

Ingredients:

Makes about 16 tablespoons

4 egg whites, lightly beaten
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup red wine
2 tbsp sour cream
1 packet Splenda
1/8 tsp dried thyme or favorite herb, crushed
salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:

On medium heat, cook egg whites mixed with soy sauce, herbs and red wine until the eggs become lumpy.

Cool briefly and then pour into the blender.

Add sour cream and Splenda and blend for 1 minute until smooth.

Helpful Hint:If you need to reheat, it put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds then re-blend or whisk before serving.
