Jason Hisley is a celebrated pastry chef: former competitor on the Food Network television shows Cupcake Wars and Sweet Genius, owner of the distinguished La Cakerie, and successful veteran of the Medifast weight loss program.

Staying fit and healthy when one is constantly surrounded by rich foods and sweet desserts is not always easy. Hisley has said that he found keeping trim while working as a pastry chef to be very difficult. However, as a man who gets up at 1:30 AM each morning to start his dream job, Jason knows a thing or two about personal discipline and intrinsic motivation. Jason decided to become healthier, so he started to pay more attention to what and how much he was eating and he became more active. Although Jason felt better about his health, his weight loss soon came to a plateau. Jason decided to try the Medifast diet.

The Medifast diet program was able to help Jason reignite his weight loss and helped him to drop another 40 lbs! Jason has been open about his struggles with weight, and has now partnered with Medifast to create a web series called The Front Burner, where Jason combines the principles he learned at Medifast and the food expertise he gained in his culinary training to create delicious cuisine that won’t tank your diet. Jason’s high-energy personality and his excitement for creating the best foods make him a pleasure to watch. Each week, he teaches new techniques on how to be successful at losing weight while still enjoying food by adhering to the principles of the Medifast weight loss program.

Medifast is not just another fad diet that promises weight loss of 20 lbs in a week while eating only sweets and other treats. Medifast is a clinically proven weight loss management program where one can realistically expect 2-5 lbs of weight loss a week for the first two weeks and 1-2 lbs of weight loss for each subsequent week. Medifast has created a holistic weight management program that includes three discrete phases: weight loss, transition, and maintenance.

The weight loss phase focuses on eating 6 portion-controlled meals a day: five pre-made Medifast meals and one meal that is made to the Medifast guidelines at home. This setup helps to keep the body’s metabolism active and allows the stomach to shrink by filling it with smaller amounts of food more frequently rather than overstuffing it. After one has reached goal weight, one continues to the transition phase. The transition phase of the Medifast program is six weeks long and helps people move from a weight loss diet to a more normal style of eating, where calories are increased and one eats three Medifast meals a day and three home prepared meals. The third and final stage of the Medifast program is all about maintaining the weight that was lost during the first two stages of the program. The third stage focuses on teaching the skills that are needed to keep the weight off even in the face of temptation.
