This easily accessible 5K is loads of fun for all participants – and it’s a great way to kick off your 2015 resolution to get healthy and stay active!

It’s early 2015 and a big percentage of the population is acutely focused on improving health, increasing activity levels, and losing weight. While losing weight and getting healthy typically requires a fine balance between healthy eating and exercise, it pays to incorporate a variety of activities to help support long-term fitness goals. One of the best ways to reinforce a healthy lifestyle, lose weight, and even make new friends, is to participate in local 5Ks, community walks, or moderate-paced races. As part of our Healthy Strides 2015 Race and Fitness Series, we are highlighting several upcoming races throughout the year in the San Diego area that can help you have fun and add to your fitness regimen.

The Bookin it for the Broncos 5K trail run is scheduled for Sunday, January 25th, 2015 at 8 AM and takes advantage of the beautiful scenery in and around Rancho Bernardo. This trail run supports Rancho Bernardo high school and meanders along the natural paths of Lake Hodges. After the race a variety of festivities will take place at the Gazebo area – including vendor booths, awards ceremonies, live music, and more. Parking is free near the Gazebo or the Glassman Recreation Center, and the registration fee is quite affordable. This is a great opportunity to stretch your legs, bring along some friends, support our young people, and add one more activity that will help you achieve your desired weight loss and fitness goals.

At Medifast, we understand the importance of adhering to a simple yet effective weight loss plan that incorporates more than just healthy food – it can also include exercise routines and counseling. Dieting is certainly a part of weight loss, and we will help you create meal plans that will pair perfectly with your weight loss goals. We will also construct exercise routines that are simple, realistic, and tailored to help you achieve your overall fitness goals. Lastly continued support from our dedicated and professional staff members will help you feel empowered to be the best you can be – instead of chasing some hollow resolution.

Some of the best support pieces you can integrate into your weight loss plan are: true community involvement and outside activities. The Bookin it for the Broncos 5K trail run takes care of both of these factors, as you will be able to support local students and provide funding where it is needed most – and you’ll be able to get outside, exercise, and feel great about taking one more step on the path to better health.

At Medifast, we don’t like to simply talk about getting healthy – rather, it’s all about creating healthy lifestyle choices that will help ensure you stay fit for life. Registering for local races like the Bookin it for the Broncos 5K trail run is one part of keeping focused on your overall fitness goals. So sign up today – and get ready to meet some great people, raise money for our local schools, and enjoy the beautiful scenery in Rancho Bernardo.
